Have we suddenly been transported into National Lampoon's Vacation? Is Clark Griswald going to take us to the House of Mud next?

Enough with the I-70 routing blasphemy!

Chicago to Denver according to mapquest:
I-88 to I-80 to I-76: 1003 miles
I-55 to I-80 to I-76: 1016 miles
I-55 to I-70: 1137 miles
So, unless you want to sightsee in Kansas City or St. Louis, WHAT is the reason for going this way?!
To drive an extra 134 miles?
My friends call me "Rand McNally" and you can thank me later. Also, driving through Des Moines and Omaha is easier than hitting rush hour in Kansas City or St. Louis. And finally, if you don't go via I-80, you will miss Ole's Big Game Restaurant in Paxton, NE!

The World's Biggest Truck Stop in Iowa on I-80 :-)

And then, 5 hrs of Nebraska will drive you crazy - Make sure to keep a watch on your speed because you just want that state to end !!!

Also, fill up the gas tank in Ogalalla, NE .. Once you enter Colorado, the exits are far apart. The scenery does not change much after entering CO till you are almost in Denver northern suburbs.

If you are planning to do the drive in 1 day, then leave Chicago by 5am or so. You will get in Denver by late evening. When you drive back though, it is harder because the sun will be directly in your eyes that early !
