Hi all,

I am a long since divorced, 46 yo, single mom from just outside Boston, whose last kid just graduated high school. I am looking to make a start somewhere new. It isn't set in stone that it will be permanent but I would like it to be for some time. I guess I am looking for some opinions from people roughly the same age as myself. Boston native (for comparison) or not isn't important, just trying to get an overall feeling. I am actually pretty laid back, easy going and not one who gets terribly lonely per se. Making friends isn't that tough for me but I do enjoy my solitude. Sounds like a personal ad but from reading many threads on here I have run into "friendly/nonfriendly people city" debates. I guess I am saying there is a distinction from people who are a little reserved and people who are just rude. IMHO the east coast is rude so maybe an explanation of the type of people in Denver could help. I find Boston claustrophobic and would love more open space. Being able to see the stars at night would be nice too...

Feel free to toss a question at me as it could help me see something I haven't thought of.

I will be renting. If anyone knows the Boston area at all just about anywhere else is cheaper.

I have two small dogs, so a pet friendly place is nice.

Yes I am willing to give up the ocean although I would prefer water within a driving distance.

The culture thing (ie operas, ballets, etc) aren't insanely important.

Food is food, I am not picky though not much of a carnivore

I work in payroll but have an accounting background

I hate humidity, lived in FL for a year and obviously not going back.

Love camping, hiking, kayakng etc. Used to ski years ago.

Is 700-1000 miles "driving distance?
We do expect the ocean to be closer in a few hundred million years though.

Oh, c'mon Dave! She didn't say what kind of bodies of water she's interested in. Plenty of reservoirs for sailing, jet skiing, etc right around here; lots of kayaking and rafting opportunities as well.
