I currently live in a northwest suburb of Chicago and isplanning on moving to Denver area in November. I’m having a hard time on deciding where to move to. I’m not much of acity person, but I still want to be somewhat close to the city. I would like tobe able to view the mountains throughout the town. Any ideas on where a goodarea to live would be??I prefer smaller towns with population less than 50,000…

Greenwood Village is a really nice, small city. The Tech Center is there, so it's a very well planned city traffic-wise. There is a lot going on during the workweek, with the business people out to lunch, free concerts on Tuesday nights, nearby entertainment, etc., but on the weekends it quiets down a bit and there are no long lines at restaurants or anything. The Landmark (shopping center) has a comedy club, nice movie theater, tons of restaurants, and shopping. Plus Greenwood Village is right off the highway, where you get some nice mountain views. Downtown Denver is only about a 20 minute drive as well.

These towns do not really exist in greater Denver.
There is zero separation between cities.
We only have a few towns.

I have no job yet. I want to find a place first before finding a job.

I would suggest temporary housing until you find a job. Otherwise you are limiting yourself geographically for your job search.

Default Go to Colorado Springs!

You will be disappointed if you want views of the mountains from Denver! You will see tall Sky Scrapers and industrial buildings. If you want to look at mountains go south from Denver to Colorado Springs. You can see Pikes Peak everyday from just about anywhere in Colorado Springs. There are areas right around Colorado Springs that might give you a few acres if you need space. Monument, Black Forest, and Falcon are all areas where you can have a horse or will find nature in your backyard. Denver is only an hour away for weekend activities. Check out job opportunities in Colorado Springs at Craigslist at colorado springs all jobs classifieds - craigslist Good luck!

I have a friend in steamboat springs that I'm sure I'll be visiting often. Any good location between Steamboat and Denver?

If you don't have a job lined up, and nothing in particular tying you to Denver, why not move to Steamboat, couch surf at your friends home, and find a place when you find a job? Denver and Steamboat are NOWHERE near each other, and if you want to see your friend with any regularity, it would be better to look at Steamboat instead.
