Sometimes I'm in the car and I want to hear what's happening locally, weather or otherwise. But when I turn on the radio, if it's not 8 AM I'll only get talk radio, at least on AM.

Are there any local stations that have a steady diet of news? It seems the stations with syndicated talk shows aren't going to interrupt their cash cows, not even for a tornado warning.

KOA 850 AM regularly has news on the hour and half hour unless they are broadcasting a game.

KCFR has national news every half hour, and local news hourly, at about 10 after the hour. 90.1 FM.

This is the only local radio worth listening to in my opinion. I tune in to satellite for everything else.

Although I listen to them a lot, and also KUNC (Greeley NPR, 91.5FM),they miss things, too. A few years back when then Governor Owens said "It looks like all of Colorado is on fire", KCFR didn't even cover the fires.
Bill Owens (Colorado politician) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OK, I guess that was 12 years ago, more than a few. But Chicken Fried Radio, as we call it, has its own agenda.

Amen, brother . . . I couldn't live without satellite. In the 80's, KBCO was incredible. Then they switched over to "world class rock" which is nothing worth getting excited about.

I remember when there was those idiots "Jack Regan and the Coach" on Q103 who would do the "date line" every Friday morning encouraging hook-ups and having parties at a place called "Treasure Island" at Parker and Havana.

Then before satellite along came those two empty suits "lewis and floorwax."

I'll listen to KBCO for a while if they're playing something I like, but I can't deal with some of the 70s crap they play. And the "morning shows" on other stations just make me want to drive off a cliff! I really don't want to hear morons blabber on and on about their stupid lives! Alice is the worst... Jamie White in the morning is a self-absorbed idiot (I've listened to her over the years here and in L.A., and can't take her anymore. Now I see why she's middle aged and can't keep a relationship going for more than 2 months!) and then their afternoon show, I can't stand the main guy's voice and the stipid "OPP" crap. ("Yi!"... what the hell is that about?)

So I mostly stick to XM now.

Well, you can always listen to Colorado Public Radio which is at 90.1 FM in Denver. The station broadcasts to the entire state of Colorado - I even get it way out here almost on the Utah border. It serves up a combination of national and Denver/Colorado news 24/7 and it's got a pretty good program called Colorado Matters which is broadcast twice a day. No tornado warnings usually, but they do give the Denver (and Colorado) weather and no mindless chatter about who had what for breakfast.

On the Internet, go with WFUV. Best internet station.

The story behind "Yi!", was some girl was waiting on hold, and when it was her turn, instead of saying "yes", or "hi", it accidentally came out "Yi!". And they've been saying it ever since. It is Slacker's voice who bothers you.

In other news, KBPI's morning show topic of the day was that Facebook updated the Messenger app.

Oh boy.
