For anybody who's been there, is it worth going to? What about for kids?

Thanks for input!

Every summer I intend to take the nieces and nephews and just never make it there. (It's a long drive.) I am also curious if it is worth visiting.
One place that IS worth it is the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg. We were there last month. It is a non-profit sanctuary for lions, tigers and bears (grizzlies too), wolves and leopards. It is pretty cool. Admission is only $10 and all money goes to support the sanctuary. Check it out: Wild Animal Sanctuary

I've been there for a work party, the place looks pretty neat!

I have noticed lately they are having movies and drinks there, sounds fun. I think it'd be worth it for the kids anyway. The people I know with kids rave about the place.

It depends on the ages of the kids. I thought it was interesting but my younger ones were bored. It has a lot of information to read so it was too old for them. The older one went there for a field trip and had a good enough time watching the movie.

my 5 year old loves it. she goes at least once a month. she's gone that often since she was 3.5, but then she loves museums. there's an interactive play area, and new stuff that's recently opened. we have a membership. good stuff we think. oh my dd has seen her first movie ever there (we don't do the tv movie thing). she saw the movie Animalopolis (I think that's the name of it) and enjoyed it. she said it was "funny."

Thanks for the input! With 2 - 8 month olds, it sounds like it would not be worth going to except for my wife and I to enjoy. I had a friend from work tell me about the Wildlife Sanctuary. Sounds like it might be worth a shot!

yep, the animals don't move at the wildlife experience. they'd enjoy the live animal experience much more, esp if they can touch them.

I am a member and love the museum. My husband took our 4 & 2 year old today and had to drag them out of the place. There are a lot of interactive exhibits and the displays have room for kids to run. There are some art displays on the first floor that are too adult for most toddlers and there are not many live animals (a few reptiles only.) I think your kids are too young for the movies, so I'd skip those.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo would be another neat one for the kids. Its literally built on Cheyenne Mountain itself, which houses NORAD.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is amazing. My parents took me there a lot as a kid and I loved it more than I ever loved the Denver Zoo. They re-did the giraffes a few years ago and have made it easier to feed them. They now walk around below you and are at your height for easy feeding--that is definitely something your kids will never forget, a giant giraffe tongue coming to get a giraffe cracker
It's also cheaper than the Denver Zoo and they have a AAA discount.
