Any suggestions for a fun place to take our daughter to dinner on her 5th birthday? It's on a Wednesday, and her birthday party is on Saturday. We want to take her somewhere with just the family on her actual birthday. Are there other options in Denver besides Chuck e Cheese?

There's always Casa Bonita, but food-wise I'd rather have Chuck E. Cheese than all-you-can-eat overpriced & expired Mexican TV dinners.

I have been to Casa Bonita once, and only once, and that was also on the occasion of my child's 5th birthday. We had just moved to Denver a week earlier and we were desperate and didn't know where else to go.

She and her younger sister loved it. She still has great memories from that night 2 years ago......I have memories as well, but they are more like terrible ones I am still trying to suppress. It was unique. I'll say that much.

What part of town are you in? Have you asked her where she might want to go, or are you afraid of what her answer might be?

If your child is well behaved, then any quiet, nice restaurant.

Agree with Casa Bonita if you haven't been there yet. It's awesome for 5 year olds.

I've never met anyone who has gone to Casa Bonita more than once. And for good reason. That being said, it is an "experience" for sure and your 5 year old will probably love it.

I'm guessing our son was 6 or 7 the one time we went.

The restaurant at the aquarium downtown! Get a table right next to the two story aquarium... kids (and adults) love to watch the fish swimming by. They have a kids menu/crayons, and good food for adults. There's also a gift shop where you could let her pick out a toy or something.

This is a great suggestion. Yes, it is overly priced (especially once you throw getting something at the gift shop), but it is a cool thing to do. My kids usually enjoy it.

Thirded on the aquarium. We moved here recently and had to plan a birthday dinner for a 9 year old, with a 4 year old in tow. Both loved it. The food is overpriced unless you stick with sandwiches, but at least it tasted good (on the level of most chains), and we sat both kids to look right at the aquarium itself- the glass is only a few feet away from many of the tables. A large grouper, easily 4 feet long, kept swimming by to look at us and both kids kept going over to wave and smile at it, and we got some nice pictures. Our service was fantastic.

Also note that the desserts are enormous. Neither of our children finished theirs.

Another vote for Aquarium here.. great place for kids to eat. Make sure you align it correctly with a Mermaid show
