Hi All!!

My wife and I are planning to move to Denver in June 2015 for her job. We are in need of some neighborhood information that could help us pinpoint where we would like to move.

I will give you alittle background on us and hopefully you can steer us in the right direction. We are both in our early 30's. We have 2 dogs and no kids. Would like to rent first before we purchase to be certain we have the right area. We would like to have a local feel in the community and be somewhat walk-able (or by bike) to a farmers market, rec center, food, brew and wine. We would like to rent a single family home with at least a small yard for the dogs. Our budget is probably max $1600. Would love to be close to a dog park or hiking trails as well. We are really excited to relocate because of all the outdoor activities that are close. We love to hike, bike, camp, backpack, rock climb, kayak, snowboard and fish.

Her job with be at 3 different sites in Denver so she will not have a specific location to go off of.

We would be grateful for any help at all. We would also be open to just outside Denver if the commute wouldn't be bad. (She hates driving in the snow).

If you could give some idea (street intersections, whatever) of the 3 work locations you will get better advice.

Baltimore, San Antonio and Kansas City will have lower rental costs.

We are unsure of her job location as of yet but it's at Kaiser. We have already lived in San Antonio and KC now and we are def. moving to Denver for her job. We would prefer to live outside the Denver area because of some of the Denver city laws. I don't have a job as of yet and will be looking in a few months as we won't be moving till June most likely.

A lot of the suburbs have similar laws. What specifically are you concerned with so that we can help you find a place that will be a good fit? Vague statements will get you vague suggestions on here (or none at all).

My guess, based on the OP's original post, is breed-specific legislation.

Your wife may be in for some disappointment.
Kaiser covers a wide area. From Lafayette to Lakewood and several places in between.

Research your commute well!

Mine too, but I'd rather know for sure.

Englewood might be a good choice. You can still find rentals in that price range. It's walkable and meets all other requirements except for the Farmer's Market but there is one close by in Platte Park and that is easy to get to by bike depending on where you live in Englewood. There is also a Kaiser office on Broadway near Bates. There are no breed bans.
