But after a few days, more and more people started telling me that my salary ($66k) was light and that Denver is, indeed expensive.

I'm guessing one day we'll come to a popular conclusion on what Denver is and what it isn't. To me, it's become (in the last five years or so) a very expensive city that caters more to the affluent than it does to the working class. Personally, if your household income is less than $100k, I would not plan on setting up shop here. And most people here who tell me this is incorrect all make over six figures. So go figure.
For what it's worth, Lafluer (big LOST fan?), I agree with you. $66k is somewhat light for home ownership, but renting something small is very doable in some fun parts of town, roommate or no. My wife and I pull in around $140k and that doesn't even feel like enough to own, at least not for what we want. Yeah we are renting in a nice area and are able to enjoy all of the fun recreation without worrying about the costs, but buying right now in this red hot market is difficult and daunting. It would stretch us too thin. I'm happy to keep renting for a while. We aren't even sure if we are planting roots here so I am glad I didn't rush a purchase right away.

So you definitely aren't wrong. I feel like most of the people telling you that are people who have been around for a while and most likely bought when real estate was nothing like it is today. I wouldn't say it's insane like some friends in SF and DC who are entering the market, but it's not easy, and a lot of jobs don't reflect the costs of living.

it ruins the challenge/fun/ambiance of obtaining pot (for me).
Like dealing with sketchy and unpredictable people with great pricing variance and unknown quality?

What you offer here is a perfect description of "dispensary" weed. You have no clue who grew it, what has been sprayed on it, or what strain it truly is. But hey...for $79 an ounce, what are you really expecting?

With the right to grow your own I can't see why anyone would pay for pot grown under questionable circumstances.

be safe out there folks

Thanks Denver, I am leaving much sooner than originally posted. Already gave it enough time here.

I know you Denver fans will have no love loss but I get to move to luxury, near all the same things that Denver has to offer and the ocean as well.

Good luck!! Hopefully you can find a job there. We have too many homeless / jobless people in Denver. I think Nor Cal has a similar problem as well, although that might be a SF thing (talk about high rents!!).
