Hey there

The husband and I share a birthday month, and we are treating ourselves to a nice long weekend in Denver. The last time we were in Denver, February last year, we explored the Aurora / Southeast region. We also visited Alma / Breckenridge in summer last year, but we are not wanting to go that far out this time.

This time around, I am thinking north, but am trying to decide between Northeast/Stapleton area (Embassy Suites - Stapleton) or Broomfield (Hyatt House - Broomfield).

Does anyone have any thoughts of any kind on either area or hotel? Google street-viewing it doesn't show as much as I'd like.

Thanks so much

Why not downtown? Other ideas are Cherry Creek neighborhood in Denver or Golden.

We will have a car, and do not mind driving around to visit/see things, so being somewhat central to what we want to explore is nice but not completely necessary. I know a daytrip to Boulder or Fort Collins is in the cards, as well as the Art Museum and going to the Downtown Aquarium. And maybe the Railroad Museum in Golden (I think it is in Golden) if we have the time. We'll be there three days

Love the historical and science stuff, but also really like walking in and enjoying parks/nature, or visiting a nice pub where one can get a nice tasty hard cider. We are pretty low key people.

In my opinion the aquarium is worth skipping unless you are going to eat dinner there.

Yeah, if you're from Atlanta, you have access to much better aquariums on the east coast. I found the one in Denver to be borderline comical.

The Denver art museum is wonderful. And the Clifford Sills museum is also supposed to be pretty great (I've never been). https://clyffordstillmuseum.org/

I've been intending to go to Golden to check out some of their historical stuff for a while now. The Buffalo Bill Museum in Golden gets really good reviews, and Golden as a town is absolutely adorable.

And whenever someone visits from out of town, I tell them to make the drive down the Springs area and take the cog rail up Pike's Peak. It's just a fun time. You can also visit Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods is out that way too.

When will you be arriving?

If you're going to Boulder/Ft. Collins, Broomfield is probably the better choice for motel/hotel. The drive from Stapleton to US 36 can be a real bear!

Lots of restaurants in Boulder. Try Chautauqua Dining Hall.

We will be in town from April 24 to April 27.

I'll mark down the Art Museum as a definite, then, and strike off the Aquarium.

Via the 'web, just found this place, which I would love to visit -- Stem Ciders Tap Room (2811 Walnut Street). Looking at the map, this is fairly close to the Northeast/Stapleton location.

And Fort Collins is also now on the "more than possible" list as the home of Scrumpy's, which would then point to the Broomfield location.

Decisions!
