Cool map from NYT showing where the residents of each state were born.

"All those Californians" constitute 6%. Texans are 3% which is the same as New Yorkers and Illinoisans.

Is there a Key to this diagram that I am missing? What do the shapes and colors represent? I see some shapes have percentages in them but most do not. How can you tell what the percentages are for the other states within Colorado?

Interesting. So the largest group coming to Colorado is coming from other countries. I suppose it just shows which states have the most non natives. Not many states are below 50%.

And there are certain states apparently nobody wants to move to (MS/AL/LA/MI/PA/OH/WV...) It may be more a reflection of their economies and a lack of jobs in those states. Although I thought OH and PA were doing ok.

Yes, there is a key. Here's the whole article with the key of what each color means.

These charts were compiled using Census microdata obtained from ipums.org at the University of Minnesota Population Center. The microdata are records containing the characteristics of individuals compiled from a representative sample of Census forms. The individual, anonymized records are provided by the Census Bureau so researchers can explore the data beyond the published summary tables.
Since the data is from the Census, it will not adequately represent illegal aliens residents.

It doesn't matter where they are coming from as much as why. They are coming to get in the business of legal marijuana. As other states legalize it, this intense influx will begin to fade.

New people, however, seem to love it here, so they might stay for a long time.

That's not the point.
Same as IRS doesn't count your money hidden under the pillow.

So everybody coming here are coming to get into the legal marijuana business? Huh!? I guess there are not other industries here that are thriving.
