I was actually referring to the reduced lunches offered to kids as stated in the article, which apparently is a slice of cheese on a hamburger bun. No idea if these kids in particular qualify for it or not. I just don't see how a slice cheese on a hamburger bun constitutes as lunch. There is very little nutritional value to that. Pretty sure prisoners get a slice of bologna at least...

Not quite true. The article says the kids who don't qualify for free or reduced lunches get the cheese on a hamburger bun. This gal was fired for giving kids who didn't have money and didn't qualify for a free or reduced lunch a full lunch. Sometimes she paid for it herself, and sometimes she didn't. She admitted she broke the policy.

But the main reason it's different is that schools are supposed to educate children and they pay all kinds of lip service in terms of saying that a child who is hungry is a child who cannot learn. And whether it's forgetfullness by the parents or laziness or they can't afford it, it's not the hungry child's fault they don't have a lunch. Feed the children and then let the adults figure it out afterwards.

Baloney.

No child should be going hungry in this country. There are plenty of food programs and food pantries. Chances are the household is receiving assistance. If a child isn't being fed, s/he should be removed from the home.

Give me a break.

The parents are probably spending the lunch money on weed...
