I just looked that up. Current dew point in Denver is 54 degrees. San Diego is 58. Kansas City is 71.. most of the Midwest and South had current dew points in the mid 60s to mid 70s. That's why it feels so awful east of Colorado.

According to the Internet (the source of truth!), dew points begin to make you feel uncomfortable at about 60 degrees. Over 70 degrees dew point is "oppressive". 50 - 54 degrees is the "comfort zone".
Wasn't comfortable for me. I felt like I was back in NYC! The humidity sucks, and I thought we had left it behind...

It is rare here, well except for this year.

So. Cal gets less rain/precip. than the front range. But the humidity in coastal Cal is usually higher than Denver due to the ocean influence.

The farther you are from the ocean, the lower the humidity/ dew point gets in So. Cal.

Yes about the humidity, but precipitation varies a lot more in Southern California (based on proximity to the ocean and topography) than is does in the northern Front Range cities. The latter generally get 14 -16 inches per year (Boulder is a wetter exception at 18-19 inches). In contrast, here are some LA basin annual precip. figures:

LA Airport: 12 - 13 inches.
Downtown LA: 14 - 15 inches.
Pasadena: 20 -21 inches.
Riverside: 10 -11 inches.
San Bernadino - 16 -17 inches.

Here's an interesting one:

Santa Monica Pier: 12 -13 inches.
Santa Monica City (on top of a cliff above the ocean): 14 -15 inches.
