Nine Colorado high schools among top 500 nationally in annual survey | FOX31 Denver

Interesting that there are 2 Douglas County Schools and one JeffCo school listed. Aren't these school districts terrible?

There are multiple posts about how these districts are going down hill/all the teachers are leaving, etc etc etc Mostly hyperbole I'm guessing.

The destruction only just started in JeffCo with the election last fall. DougCo has been on the path to destruction longer. However, socioeconomic conditions have a huge effect on school success, and Douglas County is a comparatively wealthy area. Parents here are going to make sure their kids succeed, whether it is supplementing homework with spelling and cursive (like I have) because they are no longer taught, or paying for SAT/ACT prep classes. Ask anyone here who has older kids/recent grads and they will tell you things have gone downhill. Still being "good" doesn't mean we can't be better, or that we weren't better before.

Default Douglas County School District

It is getting even more heated. Now there are rumblings about organizing a recall of the board majority. I would have no problem with that.

They're going to just voted out in the next cycle, might as well end it early so we can all move on.

Agreed. Even those folks without children should be concerned - it will eventually affect property values if nothing else.
