Hi all! I am an adult student who will be graduating in May 2016 with my BSN. I have 2+ years experience as a tech in a high volume ED in PA and once i'm finished with school I am looking to move out to CO in the Summer of 2016!

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some current data regarding nursing jobs/ careers in CO these days? Are there any area's that have more opportunities? Are they hiring graduate nurses or more experienced (1+ years) nurses? I have done some research and it seems like there are plenty of nursing opportunities from Ft. Collins all the way down to CO Springs, but wanted to get in touch with people on the ground to get a better idea. Also from previous posts I have read that it may be difficult for out-of-staters to get jobs and was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Any and all nursing related information is welcome... I'm just trying to get a better idea of what it will take to make my dream come true. Thank you!

Although nursing is a great career to be in for most areas in the US, unfortunately that doesn't apply to Denver and the surrounding areas. The fact that you'll have a BSN is great (vs. an RN without a BSN) but Denver area hospitals generally seem to be unwilling to hire new grads. If it's an option for you to work for about 1 1/2 years and then move to Denver, I believe you'll have a much easier time getting a job as an RN in / around Denver. If you're open to working in nursing homes then your job search won't be as difficult. It seems that nursing homes out here are generally willing to hire new grads.

Good luck!

I agree with veg gal. You would be much safer relocating to CO after gaining 2 years acute care experience. Never hurts to try but there is an overabundance of nursing schools in CO and it being such an attractive place to live makes for a lot of competition for New grad nurses.
