Building a Newer (Cooler) Denver | 5280

Quote:
Forget the mountains. The most inspiring view in Denver eight now may come courtesy of the towering cranes filling the skyline. Dynamic commercial projects are transforming the city into a denser, more function, and (arguably) more compelling place to live. How? Let us introduce you to some of the new buildings next door (organized by neighborhood).

No doubt. 5280 must be cutting back on the editorial staff. Good content though.....

There's some article in Glendale newspaper (rag?) that claims the owners of that rug shop on Colo. Blvd. that fought the city are actually backed by some Middle Eastern developer that wants to put up a condo tower that would be the tallest building in the state.

I'd be all for something like that downtown, but talk about throwing gas on the traffic fire that is Colorado Blvd.

I'd like to see that new shopping development in Glendale, and some added housing (condos/apts) would make sense, but this would seem very out of place. And you can barely drive through there as it is. 60 story buildings should be downtown.

Surprised there wasn't any mention of the Colorado Station development. The Colorado/Yale stations are criminally under developed.

I'm guessing Colorado because Colorado Blvd and Evans Ave make the area inherently un-walkable. The bridge helps somewhat, but the development should really be happening on Evans. You would think it'd be a pretty easy sell to put some mid rise apartment buildings with retail in that area.
