Hi all...Thanks for reading!

I am looking at a possible job in Englewood area not that far from the Centennial Airport. I would have to relocate from the East Coast. I am totally unfamiliar with the Denver area, hence this plea for information!

I'd love to be able to hike and walk my dog after work in, or at least somewhere close to the mountains. Of course, I am looking for some kind of balance as far as the drive to work goes.

No kids, so school district doesn't matter. I am 100% planning on being a renter.

Any suggestions of some areas where I might find housing that would fit my bill? What can I expect to pay for a 2 bedroom apartment/town-home? I also like the idea of walking to nearby shopping, coffee shops, Happy Hours, etc.

Is the rush hour traffic really that bad in Denver?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Budget for housing?

Rush hour traffic opinion is highly dependent upon your current experience. For example, Denver is a breeze compared with NOVA.

Centennial Airport is NOT Englewood. It merely has an Englewood postal address.

Spend 3.61 hours here reading previous posts and you will be much more knowledgeable about Denver.

Thanks Dave! My budget for housing is about $1800/month.

And yes, you're right about the address. The potential employer's address said Englewood, but when I Googled it, the map showed the Centennial Airport.

I think you are better off finding a place near Cherry Creek State Park (very close to your work location) to walk your dog so you have a decent commute and then planning trips to the mountains for the weekends or during off hours. The Jeffco park system has lots of great foothills hikes that are close in but traffic going to and from the SW area (Littleton, unincorporated) to DTC (where your job is) is brutal.

Cherry Creek State Park dog park is awesome.

Your dog will love you and you won't spend extra hours each day sitting in a car and not enjoying your life.

Hey there! I just moved here from the East Coast and am working in the same area. I chose to live close to work until I get a better feel for the different neighborhoods. I love that I can walk to work if I want - the proximity would allow you to let your dog out at lunch too. Most people at work live closer to downtown (on the south side) and they tell me their commutes are anywhere from 25-45 minutes.

I used a couple different websites to find an apartment (padmapper and hotpads) sight unseen. They both allow you to select your amenities and whether or not you have pets. I think the apartments in Inverness or the tech center would be your best bet
