I'm 26, female and AA. moving to Black Hawk/Denver area to work in Black Hawk

Anyone in the casino industry who can tell me how the tipping is? I'm a server on the casino floor. Is it better to be a dealer? What are the busy and low seasons? Any advice in general for the best casino to work for in Black Hawk?

I was thinking about moving between April-September of next year. Any concerns I need to be aware of?

Any opinions on racial tension, discrimination, exclusion etc. if any in Denver/Black Hawk area? The % of AAs is not at all my concern.

Thanks everyone!

In general, I believe AAs are under represented in the gaming industry, but I think that's especially true in Colorado. This probably has more to due with our fairly small AA population than anything else.. Ameristar did have an AA General Manager a while ago.

Lodge, Isle of Capri, and Ameristar are the busiest properties and tend to attract the most talented employees in the market.

You can DM me with any specific questions. I used to do a lot of work up there.

You really need at least $50k/year to make it in Denver even as a single person. You'll find more diversity, lower cost of living, and a more cosmopolitan atmosphere in several other cities. I am single and my rent for a 500 sf apartment is $1100 in a pretty lame and boring area (I'm 37 so i'm fine but if I were in my twenties I'd kill myself).

You have to be trolling. On another thread you posted this.

"The OP has a point. Here in the Denver metro area teenagers work jobs like cashier's, baristas, fast food workers, etc. I find it really sad and pathetic how older people in bigger metro areas hold all of these jobs. It kind of makes me want to vomit seeing all those older people working those minimum wage jobs in those bigger cities. I routinely travel for work and notice older workers doing menial service jobs in cities like Atlanta or the LA area and it makes me throw up.

When I was a teenager I was a lifeguard, that was my first job. After that, I worked at a grocery store, and a car wash...and I was lucky to get the grocery store job, grocery stores are especially filled with older losers. At age 23 I had my first engineering job. I'm now 37 and own 2 businesses. I'd shoot myself in the head before I ever took a service job."

If you own two businesses and are so successful why are you renting? In the homeless thread you basically state the only place to shop is Cherry Creek which leads me to believe that is where you shop but you still rent. You pretty much state anybody making under $40K a year is a loser.

Forgot to mention Monarch as one of the top properties. They are doing a major construction project and will be every bit as nice as anything in the market when completed.
