So yes, there are many people who make six figures in this area.
My bad... I don't keep such cool company like you. Don't mind me. I'll be over here with my unwashed peasant friends making disgusting median wages.

All you need to know is that this would have been considered an oxymoron 10 years ago.

Statistically speaking, the law of averages (and medians) illustrate that the majority of individual salaries are half that or less, depending on what data you look at.
What funny is that I agree with you. I used to wonder how people could afford their lifestyles until I learned of their 100k salaries. It shocked me to learn how highly they were paid in their fields (especially the federal workers). So if you wonder how many can afford high housing prices that is why.

$100k+ salaries put you in the top percentile of earners in this country. My point is that, statistically speaking, not that many people are earning that. I wouldn't be surprised if some people are lying to you or exaggerating a bit.

I know. I've lived here since 2008. None of that existed back then in that area.

Isn't 100k just 25th percentile? So if you walk down the street downtown, 1/4 people you see are making 100k plus.

It's probably closer to top 15-20%, or 1 out of every 5 people.

This is a little old, but:

That's nationally, which includes many, many areas that are far poorer than Denver.

In Denver $100k is not odd if you are a college educated white collar professional. Hardly exceptional.

And it also includes much denser areas that are far more wealthier than Denver like NYC, LA, SD, Boston, and Silicon Valley.

$100k is also not the average or median for a college educated, white collar professional. So, by that reasoning, it is certainly well above average/median.
