I'd consider Aurora anywhere along I-225. The new R-line light rail line will be starting up later this year as well.

I work at DIA and currently renting in Aurora along 225. The area is very convenient, but I don't know about schools. When we're ready to buy a house, I'm not sure we'll stay in that area. Several people I work with live in Green Valley Ranch and SE Aurora due to the commute. I also know a few people that live near the mountains and say the commute is worth it to them. Regarding the A-Line, the only coworker I know that was using it, has switched back to driving due to reliability issues with the train.

I am looking for a single family home in a low crime area with great/highly rated school district for my children, that is easily accessible to shops and dining, as well as parks and recreation. We'd love a yard and would prefer to avoid HOA's, though if it's a great neighborhood we'd consider it. This will be our starter home that we will eventually try to rent out after few years, so to be on the safe side we'd like to keep our budget under $400K.

I hear Littleton has great school options, what's the commute to DIA during rush hour like?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
That commute would be terrible. We're talking 40 minutes with no traffic.
