I heard that Glendale existed due to some weird issue regarding water rights. But I don't know for sure.

Technically, it's a suburb...it's not a part of the city and county of Denver, it has a different name and a different school district. It FEELS more like a part of Denver though, serving the role of Cherry Creek's dowdy little sister (the people who work at the malls and coffee shops and restaurants in that district have to live somewhere).

This is what I found on the City of Glendale website:"January 8, 1952 was the date of the original filing for incorporation of the Town of Glendale. The first Organizational Meeting of the Trustees of the Town of Glendale was held on May 20, 1952 at 7:30 p.m. at 690 South Colorado Blvd. The reason to organize in 1952, with no money, no employees, no rent, no reports, no hearings, and no unfinished business, was fear of being annexed by a giant and losing their independence. They wanted their voices to be heard."
