I have a client with Alzheimer's who loves dogs. His wife, understandably, is reluctant to adopt a dog because she still works and has her hands very full. At the first of the year, a son and his wife lived for 3 months with my clients. They had two wonderful dogs and Bill got used to having them around.

Wondering if any of you out there know of a person with a therapy dog....or an organization....that will allow people to meet the dog and have 30 minutes of relaxation the a dog...or therapy dog, actually. I've called around to different places. Haven't found anyone who can fulfill our desire. Suspect there is someone, or an organization, somewhere, who can accommodate our request. My client lives near Arapahoe Road and I-25 near Greenwood Village/Centennial. We'd be willing to drive a moderate distance. BTW, Bill loves dogs and is very kind to them.

Thanks!

Have you tried here?

Denver Pet Partners - Advancing the Human-Animal Bond

I would think they have resources to suggest if they can't help you directly.

Not a direction connection for your client BUT all of these therapy dogs and thier handlers are volunteers, and having worked with them, they are tremendous. You might call Prescrition Pets (within Children's Volunteer Dept) and share your situation, they may be able to point you in the right direction. Perhaps one of their dog/dog parents would be willing to connect with you. https://www.childrenscolorado.org/co...n-pet-program/

If those don't pan out, you might try Therapy Dogs International. They are based in NJ but have volunteer handlers/dogs in all 50 states.

I hope you find someone to bring a therapy dog to you. Dogs add so much quality to life - especially when one is struggling with getting older or a disease. My dog Molly was a certified therapy dog for many years, but she got older and has Cushings Disease and kind of keeps to herself now around strangers or I would bring her over. We used to volunteer in nursing homes. You could instantly see the residents eyes light up when they saw her. Hope you find someone...
