Today's Cyber Monday. You can find yourself a deal on anything you need, which includes a winter coat, hats, and gloves.

If the snow isn't deep, aka not higher than your boots- jeans are fine. It's when snow is deeper than your boots that jeans become unpleasant. Snow melts on it, they get wet when it's cold out= cold legs and wet socks. If you'll never have to shovel or dig out/clean off your car, then don't worry about it. Hope you'll be parking in a garage.

Actually, those of us in Trumpville like to layer up with as many Carharrt items as we can possibly afford. Sorrels are the boots of choice from September to July. Right now in balmy Cortez, its a brisk 26 degrees and going down. Lows are expected to be in the single digits for what looks to be a week or so. Please don't stop in Cortez. I hate the thought of you lying frozen to death under one of our park benches, wearing only a pair of shorts and some flip flops. Colorado has chain laws for cars. Why not Patagonia laws for visitors and newbies? There could be a posh winter clothing store located next to the pot shop on each of the roads that lead past the state line into Colorado. I know! Carharrt's could start selling winter jackets made out of hemp - the ultimate Colorado snow gear. Come spring when you no longer need it, you could just smoke it!

CO does get heavy, wet snow, especially in spring.

Exactly. Think of our OP (who has not returned) dying in a mountain pass as the snow prevents the oxen from pulling the wagon.

Yea, but then the next day is 60* out so you can wear shorts while picking up all the broken branches.

I lived in Denver 2 years and I didn't see the heavy wet stuff once. I use to joke that I'd take my hair blower out to blow the snow off my driveway. You all don't know what heavy wet snow is.

Actually, I do know. We got it in New England, where I grew up. Then, over the 25 years I lived in CO (all in the Front Range, most of it in the higher foothills), I came to know heavy, wet snow very well. You don't use a hairdryer to blow away 4 feet of wet cement.

Your two years in DENVER (I said CO, not Denver) is a drop in the bucket. That thing about "It snows one day and melts the next" simply is false. Sometimes it does, and often it doesn't.

I remember a couple of drought winters in which we barely had any snow. But they were not typical.
