Hello,
I have searched around looking for the answer, and couldn't find exactly what I am looking for. My boyfriend and I would like to visit Denver, or anywhere close, over the Christmas weekend, but we have a car. Would we be able to enjoy ourselves? We don't ski and I worry that we wouldn't be able to see or do much transportation issues related to having a car.
And on a related note - is there much we can do over Christmas weekend, or will most places be closed?

Do you mean you are visiting "without a car" ? (seems to be what you might be asking) Having a car is EZ. NOT having a car may be quite restrictive on reduced schedules of Transit. (and potentially bad weather.)

yes, many places will be closed, and Christmas can be lonely and cold living on the street in Denver

Find some new friends and do a holiday meet-up. Many people spending the holiday alone would be happy to have some friends for Christmas.

I'm also a little confused about why having a car would be a concern? You do need to be sure there will be parking where you are staying, which might be an issue if you are in a hotel in the heart of downtown. They mostly have parking but it's pricey. However, if you are staying a little further out, that's less of an issue.

Somewhere like this might not be bad - decent rates with parking but they also have a shuttle to public transportation if you wanted to head downtown without a car to worry about some of the time.

I agree with StealthRabbit though, it will be a fairly quiet time. Christmas day itself, most things will be closed.

^^This link lists some Christmas events. Things to Do on Christmas Weekend| VISIT DENVER

It says that the Botanic Gardens light shows will be closed Christmas and New Year's Days, but we went last year on New Year's night and it was open. Their own website says nothing about Christmas/NY closures at either the d/t site or at Chatfield.

What's the concern about having a car?

Naturally to find things to do you can check out apps like http:\\www.yelp.com or if you have an iphone the Funyado Denver activity finder app http:\\Funyado - Funyado | Fun Things to Do

They have features to search what's open now, but that probably doesn't work for holiday hours. There's always Chinese Food and Movies! Haha
