I am not personally familiar with the school, but I saw they used the Core Knowledge curriculum. If you are interested in that specifically, there is at least one other charter in Parker that uses it too that seems to have a better reputation, at least from first glance. Not sure what their wait list situation is though.

Parker Core Knowledge Charter School
I am not necessarily that attached to it. I don't fully know what it is even. I was more infatuated with the idea of STEM learning with the math, science and engineering focus but most reviews say that is 2 weeks per year, 1 hour per day that they do the "stem" part of the curriculum, not worth it to me.

I regularly get students from American Academy... They don't seem any better off than kids coming from public schools in DCSD.

I appreciate the response! Can you elaborate on how you get them?

I teach high school history, government and economics at a public school in DCSD. Many of my 9th grade students come from various charters as well as public middle schools.

Hello. When you say you teach 'government' is that what used to be called 'civics?'

Civics defined at Wikipedia: "Civics is the study of the theoretical and practical aspects of citizenship, its rights and duties; the duties of citizens to each other as members of a political body and to the government. It includes the study of civil law and civil code, and the study of government with attention to the role of citizens ― as opposed to external factors ― in the operation and oversight of government."

Yep. I used to teach civics in SD and IA and it was the same stuff... DCSD calls the class "Government and Politics."

...there might be a bit more emphasis on exactly how the US government operates but those differences are minimal.
