What are the chances of a landlord accepting the pit bull(s)? - you must have liability insurance, they must have insurance.

Hi I have been searching for a place to live in Lakewood, Co and have found that NO apartments or Any landlords I call will allow my two pit bull's. I have been searching for over 6 months now. I was to start College at RMCAD and now am forced to choose a different university, maybe state to live and get my Graphic Design degree because I wont let my dogs go, they are everything to me.

The best place to live if you have multiple dogs or pittbulls is BUY YOUR OWN HOME with a nice yard in a municipality that will accept your lifestyle. It would be more humane and kinder to the dogs and you would not have problems with landlords who need to make smart decisions to protect their assets against liability issues. Your complaining is not going to change the situation. If you cannot buy your own home because you cannot save enough money then you will always have problems renting. Perhaps you need to do a little planning and reduce your desires and needs and you will be able to save, like many people have done for generations.

Most commercial insurance policies do not cover pit bulls or any other exploited breeds, but some do. Most apartment complexes do not allow dogs over 30 pounds. With this in mind, options are drastically narrowed down, but there is still hope so do not stop there!

I don't think a
responsible owner seeking a pit bull friendly home to rent is asking too much, you just need to ask in the right places. In the above link, the author suggested Craigslist, and I think this is a good idea.
I see the
Larimer County Humane Society has two pitties mix up for adoption, so probably pit bulls are legal in Ft Collins.
But Larimer County passed an ordinance against tethering, and I am glad about this.
In Colorado, several municipalities have written legislation that addresses dangerous dogs but is not breed-specific. These are
Parker ,
Lakewood, and
Englewood.

If you are moving to Colorado and want to be close to denver... Englewood is the best bet nice, smaller but good size, lots of yards, and lots of places to rent... I have a pit mix with american bulldog and its hell finding a place outside of Englewood .. I have had home for four years now and have moved four times (not because of my dog) and every owner has loves my dog... I actually live near the du campus and its nice cali style homes; ha might be an easter transition for you guys jkjk.. but its close to the mountains, down town, and everything else you could possibly want... well except the ocean, but if your missing that you can visit our aquarium its stellar!!!
