A few weeks ago I received a citation for rolling through a stop (~5mph) in Mountain View. Most cops wouldn't pull me over, much less write a ticket for that, but in Mt View that offense is apparently worth 4pts and $190.

Anyone know a traffic attorney who would handle this for a reasonable cost (<$500)?

Nope.
Mtn View cop. Mtn View judge.
You lose.
You do realize that Mtn View gets 45.67% of its revenue from scofflaws similar to you?

P.S. How is the traffic by your new abode?

Mountain View, Sheridan, Lakeside, and Morrison are notoriously sleazy when it comes to doling out traffic citations.

I've never even heard of it. Not even sure how it's a considered a "town" and why it wasn't absorbed into Lakewood at some point.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_View,_Colorado

"In 2013, the [Police] department issued more citations than the cities of Denver, Aurora, and Boulder, combined."

Sounds like the town and the police department have outlived their usefulness.

Mountain View uses traffic citations as a giant revenue center. It's well documented. You do not stand a chance. Pay the fine and move on. Don't waste money on a lawyer.

Personally, I'd go to court and talk to the officer. See if you can just pay the fine without any of the points. I've done that with speeding tickets and a roll through. As stated above, most places just want your money.

Yeah I saw that, though in the article I read, the # was closer to 50%. Pretty incredible really. Guess I'll just pay the ticket and avoid Mt View in the future.

And I didn't end up buying the 26th ave house- it sold less than a day after I looked it and I hadn't fully decided I wanted to put an offer on it.
