I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the preschool program at Goodson Rec Center. I'm hoping for a 5-half day program for my 4 year old son for the 2017-18 school year. Not sure if they offer 5 day or just 2 and 3 days (lady at the desk wasn't sure, will call tomorrow). I have a daughter that will be going into 2nd grade, not sure exactly which school yet but I would love to get him into any preschool associated with her school but I'm guessing we're way too late for that. Any other reasonably priced preschool suggestions near the 80112 zip would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

No experience with the preschool, but we've taken my daughter to the ballet program there. She liked it.

Well that's something, thanks! We are leaving a great community center here in Vegas that we send our kids to for dance and sports classes so that's still helpful. Thanks!

I don't have any info about the preschool either but it's a great rec center. They have an excellent gymnastics facility, affordable classes for kids, a nice pool, etc.

Where do you live? Doesn't your elementary school have a pre school program?

We will be relocating soon. I will be going out to scout housing within the next two weeks. I'm hoping to find something within Heritage, Willow Creek or Dry Creek elementary. From what I understand though, isn't it too late? I will certainly try once we have a house secured, but I thought the ECE slots filled up quickly. I would love to be wrong about that though!

Slots open up all the time - families move, some take their kiddlets elsewhere...Always apply & ask to be put on the waitlist.

Awesome. Good to know. Here in Vegas most schools (besides what you're zoned for) is on a lottery system so if you're trying to get in anywhere at this point in the year you're just totally out of luck. ECE in the school my daughter will be attending would absolutely be my first choice. Thanks for the heads up!

I only know the stats in DPS, and yes, ECE slots get filled early and the waitlist is long. I think it's very unlikely you would find a public school ECE spot at this point in time, and even on the wait list, there are going to be lots of people ahead of you. Definitely wise to explore all of your other options.

Public ECE is not mandatory the way kindergarten is, and some of the schools in my area have closed some ECE classrooms to turn them into kindy rooms because DPS kind of sucks at accurately projecting enrollment numbers and they had to open up more kindergarten seats.
