There's no way to predict road conditions on I-70 through the mountains based on what might be typical or usual for snowfall in Denver. You probably know that this has been a year with record snowfalls in the high country (that's not been true in Denver).

(To check for road conditions for your trip, CDOT Traveler Information is the website for Colorado Department of Transportation where you can get real-time road reports.)

Speaking of being dry, does Denver have water shortage problems?

The month may have been dry so far, but that could change drastically by the beginning of next week... 9News is forecasting that we may have a major snowstorm on Sunday night and into Monday. Yikes, I hope if it snows, it's enough to at least give us a day off!

This time of year they never know. Hopefully it'll just be wet snow that sticks to the grass. Mine needs the moisture!

Someone is going to get some snow (or rain) out of Monday's system, the question is whether it stays north and hits the Front range, or whether it goes south and takes the precip to the CO/NM border. Last night's GFS takes it north:

(that is total precip Sunday afternoon to Monday night, multiply by 10 to get inches of snow.).
The european model takes it south.

There is another US model, the NAM, which only makes a 3.5 day forecast, but looks like it might take the northern track.

Thanks for sharing, nulembo. I personally hope the storm goes on a northern track- we could certainly use some moisture here in Denver. It will make everything turn green.

In 28 years here, I've seen many a dry March. The moisture in March in particular seems to come in big dumps, if at all. (Snow)

We're due for snow, based on my experience this winter. Every time I get rid of the snow in my little yard on the north side of my house, more comes to fill it up. Then I have to shovel it out for my small dog!
