Default Highlands Ranch

We just moved to Highlands Ranch (we have a 9 month old). We love it. The west side has gorgeous mountain views and you have easy access to the highways and to the mountains.

It also has great rec. centers for you and your kids (indoor and outdoor pools, swimming lessons, playgrounds, pre-school, weight room, tennis, basketball etc.!). There are also a ton of trails and parks. Also, Douglas County schools are good. Additionally, there is a ton of great shopping around and access to the lightrail if you want to get downtown but don't want to drive.

Another option would be S.E. Denver, BUT, Arapahoe county. This area would give you a little more of an urban feel, but still not too city-like. Additionally, the schools are in the Cherry Creek School District, which I believe is the best in the state. On the contrary, Denver Public Schools DO NOT have a very good reputation. Some of the areas included are in and around Hampden Ave, Holly Hills etc. Or, if you want to send your kids to private school, there are a lot of options there too and many private schools in the southern part of town.

There is no part of Denver that is in Arapahoe County. It is the City and County of Denver--all the same--all in one.

And the best school district in the state is (fill in the blank). There are many opinoins about this. Many claim to back up their opinions with "facts" like test scores, etc. I would suggest doing a search on the topic, on the Colorado forum and the indivdual city forums.

Anyone have information on the new area called "Reunion"? It is out by Commerce City. I drove through there last week and it looks nice. The road are already in place and it appears to be well planned.

Thanks!
