You really need a car to live in Denver. I've always liked Denver a lot more than Washington DC - it's almost the complete opposite actually.

Several years ago, my company gave me a choice to stay put, move to Alexandria, VA (or nearby), or Denver, CO. I drove down to Alexandria one Sunday, and it was total gridlock. That's all I needed to know and we moved to Denver. I loved every minute there.

Yes. I have a Honda Fit that I take up to the mountains regularly during peak hiking season.

I guess so.

Our current car is:
2007 Audi A3

Previous cars since 1982:
Honda Accord
Saab 900s x 3
Audi 80
Plymouth Horizon
VW Passat (had 6 cyl)
BMW Z3 - not a good inclement weather car

I have never purchased snow tires since I started driving in 1965. Massachusetts, New York and Colorado. Of course this drives SkyDog crazy.

It's unconscionable. A moral outrage.

Yes, unless you're first responder or health care worker and absolutely have get to work on time no matter the conditions. In that case you'll want a 4WD. There are only the hand full of days a year that you can't get around in a FWD. I'm talking about the metro area and major highways - the mountains and eastern plains are whole different matter.

Yes, from what I've researched, snow tires make a huge difference. And, weighing down the back of your car if you have rwd.

Me neither - NY, NH, PA, and CO (and not 1965...)
