I'm flying into Denver in September, staying the night, taking the...I forget what it's called right now!....something light rail I guess, taking it from the airport to Amtrak at Union Station. I need to find a hotel for that night though and my train leaves early the next morning. I'm trying to find the least expensive way to do this as the hotels that seem convenient at airport are way expensive...more than my flight!, as are the ones downtown. I will not have a car. I'm wondering what area would be kind of midway, so it won't be too expensive to either take taxi to Amtrak next morning or maybe the light rail part of the way and then get back on next morning. My goal is to not spend too much money and yet not have to get up at the crack of dawn the next morning and struggling with light rail stops or whatever. Any ideas? Hope any of that made sense. Thanks!!

Reasonably priced hotel in between the airport and Union Station

DoubleTree Denver Hotel Stapleton North

It's about a mile away from the Central Park station on the A line from the airport, and they have a courtesy shuttle from the train station to the hotel and then back the next morning and you can take the train the rest of the way to Union Station.

If airport area hotels aren't cheap it's probably going to be a tough ask. Usually those will be among the cheapest options outside of some places on the west or north suburbs that won't be close to light rail.

Why bother with light rail in this case? Take an Uber or Lyft to your hotel for the night and again in the morning to Union Station. Your in-town transportation costs will go up a little bit, but it opens up a ton of options for lodging, where you can save substantially. Plus, it is far more convenient for getting to where you need to go.
