Anybody know much about the around Englewood. The location is 2 blocks west of Broadway. Looking to rent a carriage house and wanted to know why the rent is low compared to other areas. Crime close to light rails and will be working at UPS Commerce city

You should look in the north part of Denver if you are going to be working in Commerce City. You are getting into an unnecessarily long commute if you rent in Englewood.

The rent and home values are low on the west side of Broadway and higher on the east side of Broadway. The east side of Broadway in Englewood looks different . There seems to be less gentrification or something...

It's a very desirable area but a long commute to Commerce City.

It's lower rent because it's not as 'nice' as other areas. And depending on the street, you might be on an in-bound ambulance route for the Swedish ER. If you have school age kids, definitely do your research on Englewood schools.

Here's Englewood's crime map:

Crime Mapping | City of Englewood, CO

It's generally been a hard working blue collar town, but given the real estate costs in Denver, Englewood it is quickly gentrifying. I know several younger folks who couldn't afford homes in other cool areas like Baker or the Highlands who have ended up in Englewood. S Broadway through Englewood has seen a bunch of hip places open recently.

We're renting an apartment in Englewood right now. Our rent isn't that cheap, but it was the best we could find near my son's new PreK a short lease term. We've only been here about 2 weeks and leaving in October once our home in the springs is ready.

It's not really my choice as it's very loud along Broadway and a pain to drive on, but there's nothing really wrong with the area. There's a new-ish Sprouts, the Englewood Recreation Center is decent, a few trails, close enough to other things.

It's definitely not the ghetto by any means.

But the commute to Commerce City would be awful.

Oh, and there's a drive thru coffee place that's nice... although that might be outside of Englewood's boundary.

Lots of car dealerships too.

When my husband I got married in 1973, our first apartment was at 3666 S. Acoma (#105). We would walk across Hamden to the Village Inn in Cinderella City every Sunday morning for breakfast, then walk around the mall. My favorite store was The Denver. There was a church on the corner of Acoma and Kenyon and the church bells tolled every 1/2 hour. It was a fairly nice area back then, with lots of young couples in our building. We'd have BBQ's on the front lawn, and could leave our front doors open so kids could run in and out of each other's homes. But when we had our first child, we moved out of our one bedroom apartment to a 3BR townhouse on the west side of S. Lowell just north of Bowles in Littleton.
