So, i have been to Colorado and all around the state 5 or 6 times, but I want to go on a trip with a friend who has never seen real snow.

We plan to stay 2 days in Denver, 2 Days in Boulder, and visit Rocky Mountain National Park.

We plan to go sledding, and possibly snow-shoeing.

We live in Florida, and im trying to decide if mid-january would be a good time to visit, based on what we want to do and see.

Im worried it will be bitterly cold, but she wants to do snow activities.

Advice?

Better time is March, even April. More snow and warmer. January is the coldest month. In Denver, it could be 70 or it could be below zero. In RMNP, it could be 30 or it could be way below zero.

I agree that if you want lots of snow in the mountains and a better chance of good weather in town, March/April are the best bet. That being said, it can be cold in April and warm in January. You just have to play the odds.

Last January was really dry and brown. It got up into the 60s at some points but very little snow. It was a really mild winter in general though.
