Hi , I got a job in broomfield but live in Aurora. I am really nervous to drive in this winter.
What is the other way?

Check google maps and Waze. They see traffic.

RTD-wise you're looking at light rail to Union Station (either H to E/F or R to A), then the Flat Iron Flyer bus from Union Station to the Broomfield Station, then possibly one or more local buses to your destination from there. That commute could take one to two hours (or more) each way depending on where you live. It's not convenient at all.

Sherry if you are going to be living in Aurora and working in Broomfield for the next six months, then you should learn how to drive in the snow. Monday's snowstorm is just the start of more to come.

What kind of car do you have?
What kind of tires?

If you are that nervous, perhaps you could take a driving lesson. Consider the Bridgestone Winter Driving School at Bridgestone Winter Driving School. How about Master Drive at 2 Hour Winter Driving Skills Camp. I've never done either, but then I drove for 30 years in Denver.

To be honest, there's next to no reason to worry about driving in the winter here, especially with a Subaru. It doesn't frequently snow in the Denver metro, and when it does, it doesn't always stick to the roads (like yesterday). I think it was maybe 3 or 4 days last winter where the roads were pretty bad for the commute. And the snow usually melts within a few days.

Honestly, just keep your speed down and give yourself 3-4x as much space between yourself and the car in front of you. Oh and learn to use your L gear (like when you're coming down the mountain) to help break if it's icy out. The people who end up in accidents drive too fast for the conditions, drive to close and are impatient.

Yep I would agree, I found it way harder to drive in Illinois when I lived there due to the icy roads.

If your job stays in Broomfield I may consider a move if you are renting. Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, Arvada and even Brighton (a little further out) could be good choices.

Get yourself a good set of winter tires. That will do far more for you than AWD and combined with AWD you will be in great shape.
