The average suburbanite isn't attempting to farm but rather putters around a backyard vegetable or fruit garden. I have a raised bed kitchen garden that produces a surprising amount of summer produce with a modest amount of irrigation, including lettuces of all types, herbs, peppers, a ton of tomatoes, rhubarb, raspberries, and strawberries, plus winter and summer squash. I have grown absolutely amazing butternut squash, which I trade with another neighbor for some equally-amazing spaghetti squash. About the only thing I haven't had good luck with is beans. For whatever reason, my thumb turns black with beans. Oh, and lots of my neighbors have apple & pear trees, particularly apple trees. It doesn't happen every year, but often in fall Nextdoor is plastered with requests for people to help themselves because neighbors are overwhelmed with an unexpectedly huge harvest.

Eating Locally Grown and natural foods like farm fresh Strawberries provides a major variety of benefits. Studies have shown that locally sourced and organic foods have more nutrients, including antioxidants, than traditionally grown foods. Studies also show that people who have allergies to foods or preservatives a lot find their symptoms lessen or go away all together when they eat only locally sourced and natural foods! Find locally sourced Strawberries and extra at local farms in Colorado today at Agrilicious.org.

Really? I gardened in PA for fifteen years and I remember a lot of watering. Not the trees, but the annuals.

I tried, but it seems I can't even do a location search unless I sign up at the web site. Unless I'm missing something, that's too intrusive for me.

Really! I leased some of my land to a local farmer and he grew either corn or soybeans. No irrigation available. Only watering I did was when I put some new grass seed down for my lawn, and for that I had 300 ft of hose, which was enough to reach all of my lawn, but not my field behind the house.
