How do singles who only make $35500 a year afford to rent an apartment in the Denver area when they require 3x's the rent in income without having a co-signer?
It seems almost impossible to do.

Are there any organizations to contact for low income renter assistance?

Is there a place to contact for assistance?

Roommates will be your best option without having to fill out too much paperwork for public assistance.

Otherwise, Google 'Denver Low Income Housing Assistance' for more info.

Or you can contact HUD.

Sadly low income housing has long waitlists since the state government believes catering to wealthy real estate speculators is more important than helping working families. Your best bet is roomates or leaving the city. However all hope is not lost remember to vote for politicians that don't kow tow to the wealthy interests.

There's income restricted apartments, mobile home courts...and less desirable areas.

Also many, many places only require 2-2.5x income to qualify.

Same way that people have done it for decades, in many cities: Roommates.

Craigslist

Roomies

Ghetto

Make more moneys

Move elsewhere

It’s simple really

My buddy is a single dude living 10 mins from downtown, he makes 36K/year working retail. He seems to do well enough here without having to ask for government cheese.

yep, exactly. I don't think I knew a single person who had an apartment of their own right out of school, everyone had roommates for at least the first few years.

Based on your previous posts, OP, it looks like you have a cat. So your options may be limited and you will probably be paying a hefty pet deposit. You also asked in a previous post about apartments that allows marijuana. THAT will really limit your choices!

Are you still looking for somewhere near downtown?

I have looked at how many sites for apartments and have never seen any that say they require only 2x's the rent. On one occasion I found one that said 2.5x's the rent.
I will keep looking
