I am considering taking a very hectic position in Aurora. I want to find a small place to lease in a rural setting, to get away from everything when I am not working. Love super small town feel. Not hipster, modern or anything like that. Think old cowboy. Do you have any suggestions on where to look? Thanks

North. Longmont, Erie, Frederick/Dacono/Firestone. Cows and oil wells and open space, fairly easy commute down into A-town.

Elizabeth, Bennett, Kiowa, Strasburg, Byers, or Deer Trail. Byers and Deer Trail may be a bit far out,

Elizabeth and Kiowa for sure. If you want to be closer to the mountains, maybe Sedalia.

Aurora is large. Where in Aurora you work will determine which areas are the better commute.

The main office is closer to the airport, right off of 70. I don't mind a 45 min commute. Time to decompress.

I would lean toward Bennett, Byers, or Strasburg to the east, and Hudson, Keenesburg or maybe as far out as Wiggins or Fort Morgan to the northeast.

FWIW, I personally don't find driving through rush hour traffic on I-70/270/25 all that decompressing. That's why I don't recommend Longmont or areas north. There's also a ton of growth in those places so they're not nearly as rural-feeling as the places I've suggested.

Elizabeth or Franktown may be a good fit. They are south/southeast of Aurora, and a fairly easy drive. Both have a nice rural feel in my opinion, surrounded by pine trees, scenic views and wildlife. There are good amenities nearby in Parker or Castle Rock.

I second Elizabeth. However, stay off of Parker Road (CO-83) for your commute, and instead take many of the backroads to get to E-470. Also, when it comes time to deal with compensation, in order of preference, (1) have your employer furnish you a expresstoll pass that they pay directly, (2) reimburse you for tolls, or (3) negotiate it into your salary. E-470 is a bit boring, but it tends to move 70-80mph at all times.
