Any posters on here who are/were a police officer in this area?

My hubby will be hitting his 20yr mark in Jan/2011. And then, we are OUT of this state!

From his research, it doesn't seem that it will be that hard for him to get a job at one of the many PD's in the Denver area....he seems to like what he's read about the Westminster PD so far.....

Maybe someone with this experience/knowledge can post for us.

Thanks again! Love this website!

Westminster is a good place, safe suburban town, PD is very clean and professional nice squad cars, SUVs, Lakewood is another place to look at highest pay in the region, also highest turnover rate though. Fort Collins, great place to live, a lil farther from Denver but safest city in the State.

PS just out of curiosity ... why are you OUT of this state? And why CO?

i know a few of the Westminster Police officers, they are definatly top notch people.
My father has a police scanner, and regularly listens to the calls that go in and out.

Ok well don't wanna bum you out but just want you to be prepared ... Denver has some of the same trends as FL. Everyone here's from out of town, there are a lot of 2nd homes and it's growing at a fast pace 6th fastest growing rate, mainly Californians, Texans and Great Lakers. I assume snowbirds are New Yorkers? Haha good one!

There's a big youth gang and illegal immigrant problem but that's mainly on the East side of town, if you are in Westminster, Arvada, Golden you should be fine, closer to the mountains usually are better neighborhoods and a lil pricier, Jefferson county has a good school disctrict. You'll like the weather, though you might have to adjust to the winter 5 months of snow, but you get four seasons here and the shoulder months of spring and fall are very pretty. Good luck with the move, I did some training in FL as a coast guard and I do like CO better. Fort Collins is definetly worth checking out, there's Larimer County, PD and CSU PD, if I was to live in CO forever it'd probably be Fort Collins.

I grew up in and frequent the Westminster area. I agree with other posters who noted the Westminster PD is top notch. They are in a relatively new building (don't know the exact year) that is beautiful and located immediately south of the Westminster City Hall (another beautiful building). Communities within the Westminster city limits include homes reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s (much of Westminster has these neighborhoods) to brand new multi-million dollar homes. Plenty of shopping and outdoor activities are found throughout Westminster and surrounding suburbs.
