the big 3 Denver area districts all announced this evening that they will be closing due to COVID-19.

I only know the specific details for DPS, which is open tomorrow, but closed from Monday 3/16 through Tuesday, April 7. The last 6 days are the normally scheduled Spring break, and then the two weeks before that. I know a not insignificant number of parents who were going to start keeping their kids home anyway

Well, lots of parents are working from home these days. And neighborhoods are organizing daycare and babysitting for those who can't. People volunteering to shop/run errands for the elderly who'd prefer to stay home. At this early point, at least, communities are trying to get through this by helping one another.

Denver Public Library is closing on Monday, which I thought was nice, giving people a weekend to get there to stock up on books! It won't impact me as I borrow all mine electronically to read on my Kindle and that service will still be operating.

And I suspect that a lot of smaller businesses and restaurants are going to shut down too, because they won't get enough traffic to justify staying open. A very anticipated nearby restaurant opening of a Chinese dumpling place was supposed to be this Wednesday but they just announced they were going to delay that.
