I live near Colfax and Monaco where there has been a constant sound of sirens for days. I've read that they were dispatching officers due to the Corona virus which has caused a huge spike.

Just curious what the other areas are experiencing around Denver? To me this is getting extremely chaotic and I am starting to worry about crime because the officers are being called to Corona issues.

“DPD will begin taking some reports and statements via phone call instead of dispatching officers to gather information in person,” said Denver Mayor Michael Hancock during a news conference on Friday afternoon. The changes were announced during an update on how the City of Denver is taking action with the coronavirus pandemic.

What are police-specific "Corona issues"?

Your quote contradicts your claim, in that police will take minor crime reports via phone instead of personal contact.

They are going to phone interviews due to the spike in dispatching officers.

I am making no claim, just sitting here at home listening to sirens all day and it is not normal.

I'm curious about the police responding with sirens to corona virus issues. What does this mean? If someone is sick, wouldn't they be calling an ambulance? Or are the police being called to control the fights going on over the last package of toilet paper?

Where do you read that? It's quite clear to me that they are trying to reduce F2F, personal contact where it's not needed and represents a contagion hazard.

What exactly do you think would be calling for increased dispatches and street activity for police? General paranoia and business shutdowns don't need massive police presence.
