For those of us who have lived in Colorado for decades, it IS humid! It doesn't matter what the weather is like in Florida, we don't live there for a reason. In Colorado we are used to something like 20% humidity. I bet that's one reason why you moved back from Jacksonville.

Agreed. This weather sucks. Reminds me of my east coast days.

It's a complete lie that Miami is "100 degrees and a 100% humidity" in the Summer, like is often presumed.

Yep, but not the only reason. Very, very glad to be back!

I moved to CO in feb 2018 from SC. I can’t stand hot sticky summers, but I finally took the plunge and bought a humidifier. I have been using it the last two days. One thing I can say that no one is talking about during quarantine is the effect of prolonged exposure to indoor air and air conditioning. In a place like Colorado, Arizona, Nevada etc it can be very detrimental. It’s already dry by default and AC sucks even more moisture out of the air. I take two salt based medications and had Lasik last year. I have battled and battled various ailments from dryness. Doctors recommended a humidifier but I kept putting it off. Then during quarantine I’ve started having odd health issues and even more dryness. Stuff that I never experienced prior. Went to doctors and even after treatments they offered it persisted. I thought maybe after having covid from work exposure in March and April that it did something to my body that was lingering. But I finally said screw or and dropped $150 on a miro humidifier (the only one on the market as far as I know that you can fully take apart and clean with dish soap and water). I’ve so far noticed marked improvement. I used to wake up with headaches, tired, mouth and eyes felt like sandpaper. I could drink water constantly all day and still not have a drop of moisture in my mouth. Take a sip of water and it would Immediately evaporate it felt lol. The last few days I have saliva in my mouth. Natural saliva. It might not be mich but it’s more than usual. My eyes have some moisture. My skin feels good. I’m not constantly clearing my throat or choking on sticky dry sinus crud. I take meds like I said which make it worse for me. But I think many may be suffering discomfort here by not having a humidifier. Low humidity environments can cause fatigue, dizziness, headaches, respiratory distress, blurry vision, make it easier to catch viruses etc. with more people sitting at home and running the AC it’s something to look into. Just wanted to add this in case it helps someone.

For the 5 1/2 years we lived in Colorado before (south/Front Range), we never had a humidifier. When we moved back here last August, from northeastern Florida, we bought a two Cool Mist humidifiers for the upcoming winter. One is small and the other is Extra Large. Used both in living room, but only used the XL one in our bedroom. Kept both rooms at 30% humidity during the day. Have put both away for the summer months, because the humidity inside our apartment stays around 50%.
