Update, we found a house in Evergreen and are moving to the area over the summer! Thanks to all of you for the advice provided along the way! We took it into consideration and we found a great house in a lovely area.

Is there a lot of traffic from Evergreen area to Denver on a daily basis? Or is it relatively light/moderate?
I too am looking for a new home in the hills west of the Denver metro.

Yes, there is traffic into the metro in the AM (out of the metro in the PM). It's usually not too bad outside of inclement weather, the worse traffic will be once you get onto the metro roads. The sun can also be blindingly glaring in the morning heading east.
