All of which are basically calling for what Colorado already does: no tests for most of a vehicle's 'new' life, then testing biannually thereafter.

Yes, annual testing and testing vehicles less than about five or six years old is a trivial-returns game. But given the propensity of people to screw around with emissions stuff (whether for "performance" "mileage" or "rolling coal" — all of which are nonsense and voodoo) I can't really see dispensing with about the level of monitoring CO has now. Especially coupled with more roadside monitoring, both to catch gross polluters and evaders, and to feed the program that lets us skip a paid test.

Online is always the better option. Why would anyone go to a DMV office if they don't have to?

Our 2007 Audi passes the test with 10% of the limits.
So, why do I have to drive 3 miles, pay $25, waste 1 hour of my life?

i totally agree but... you have to pay an extra fee to register on-line. It should work the other way around; to register in person you should pay the fee. Not my pay grade but seems managment has it backwards

You mean the "convenience fee" (love that name, don't you?) to use a credit card?
In jeffco, you can still do the online registration and mail a check in to avoid the extra fee. Does Denver add something else?
I agree with you online should be cheaper.

My 1995 Jeep Cherokee has over 277,000 miles on it. It has been my only vehicle since 2008. I renew every year but an emissions test has not been required in all that time. So daprara's info does not jibe with my actual experience...or else I am a scofflaw and didn't even know it.
