My parents and four of their friends received the second dose of Moderna on Monday.

Two out of the six of them had a really rough day yesterday, but by this morning, everyone is feeling great.

I am looking forward to being able to get in for my first dose, but not sure how long it will be before 40 somethings are allowed to get in line.

I got a call from J&J yesterday, they asked if I still wanted to participate in their trial, guess I had signed up a couple months ago and forgot about it. They were looking for folks 40+, so I guess that's one route.

Interesting! Might get stuck in the placebo group, though.

Kaiser, today, Moderna shot #1. I am 72. Very efficient process. A bit of itchiness across my shoulders.

Glad to hear, Dave!

Hopefully your shot #2 goes like it did for my dad, not my mom.

When/how did they schedule your appointment? I'm on their list (same age as you), signed up as soon as they had it set up, and before they opened it up to the public, but have heard nothing more so far.

It will really depend on a lot of factors. But if things go well and we get 3 more vaccines added it will speed up considerably.

We got extra doses to pass out this weekend because the state knows we can do it. The vaccine comes to us and we prep the doses and give out shots, they don't sit and collect dust. All this and we don't get a penny from the gov't to administer and everyone is volunteering their time to do the job in hopes of getting the pandemic under control.

I just tried registering - no luck - vaccine not available already. From the registration site:

Select a Vaccine
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine (two doses)
The Pfizer Coronavirus Vaccine (BNT162b2) is a two-dose vaccination series that requires a second dose of vaccine be administered 17-21 days after the first dose. . .
