Does anyone have any idea where I can unload hundreds of pounds of gravel???

We cleared our plot in front of our house so that we can plant and lay mulch. The gravel is not necessarily nice and clean as it was really old, and it's also mixed in with the fabric thingy you lay underneath it. We also chose to bag the gravel in Hefty sacks, so we probably have hundreds of them.

We are going to get a truck next weekend to dump it somewhere, but no idea where to go.

thanks Charles. I just called them. They only do delivery of rock, gravel. No pickup.

: (

I'm looking at Craiglist, some people want free gravel.

Too bad you don't live by me! I have ditches that run along the side of my property. I am a corner house so, to put gravel in them would be a plus.

I would think that you could call some animal shelter or maybe an animal hospital. They always have dog runs and such. They maybe could use some gravel in them!

Are you in Denver?

The problem with the rock is that everyone wants the pea-sized stuff, and ours is about 1/2 to 1 inch sized.

You might be able to unload it at a landscape supply company. I'd call around. Make sure its the ones that sell the material ala gravel, sand, mulch etc.

ok, at this point I'm in love with Craigslist. Since posting, I have had 3-4 calls. All within an hour after posting. I think I just got a bite. A guy who lives up in Strausberg (sp.?) who wants it for his driveway and yep Sheridan you heard it, his dog run. Whatever that is. I'm interested though. He drives trucks for a living, willing to come down and get it.

yippeee!!!!!!!

p.s. - Steve: I tried the local landscaping areas, they just weren't interested?!?

******UPDATE: I just gave away the gravel via Craigslist. woo hoo

Glad you found a place for it! Craigslist was what I was going to recommend - that's how we got rid of ours years ago.
I almost responded to your other post in the gardening section when you mentioned moving it. Reminded me of when we had to take it out. I hate that stuff. So glad we got rid of it when we did!

Yay! I'm glad that worked out! Dog runs are just that, and that's where they potty too, I know, TMI but it's true. Easier to clean.

And no, I'm not in Denver, I live in Canon City, otherwise I would have taken it!!

It looks so much better just being dirt. I had a quote from a guy for $150 to completely remove it, but noooo, we decided it'd be cake to remove it. Then we realized, crap, how do we get rid of this stuff!?! I had so many callers. I'm confident this guy will work out. We don't even have to leave the house, he's coming by with a jeep and trailer.

So what did you do after you removed the gravel? We are going to mulch and plant some shrubs. So far we agree on dogwoods, but disagree on the height we want.
