And by "older" I mean 3rd grade and up.

We're hearing generally positive things about both Westerly Creek and Bill Roberts for PK through 1st-2nd grade, but more mixed reviews re the upper elementary and middle school grades. Nothing first hand, just speculation and rumors re a different SES mix and the impact that might have on the educational experience. Thus far, though, I haven't been able to actually speak to anyone with a direct / actual experience here.

Anyone on this board have any comments re Bill Roberts for these grades?

Thanks in advance!

My kids are still babies, so I'm not that up on the schools, other than knowing the Kindergarten has something like 7 classes this fall. It seems like 95% of Stapleton children are newborns to 4 years old right now. You might want to post your question on the Stapleton Grapevine (just google it and you'll get the site - you'll need to register too) and you'll get the answers you need.

Great tip; thanks! I've registered; now I just need to wait for the site administrator to grant me access to the grapevine. Thanks again.

No problem! From my understanding, the main issue is that so many kids are the same age here, so grade school classes had to be bumped into the middle school, which was underutilized since not many kids were in that age group. Then I've heard something about Westerly Creek being a "half charter school", and I have no clue what that means. When I was a kid, we didn't have charter schools!

We have neighbors with children in that age range and friends who teach at the schools who have nothing but positive things to say. There are issues with space at the moment, but the education is among if not the best in DPS.

Our youngest have another year before they enter the grade schools, we decided to place our oldest at a local Catholic school rather than enter her into the defacto high school, George Washington (which has a fantastic IB school, but otherwise is so-so).

Soon, Stapleton will have a high school of its' own that in all likelihood will turn out to be among the best in DPS if the grade schools are any indication.
