I work in IT. I am a network administrator and am looking for a similar position in the Denver area. Here is the thing. I want to start looking but its going to be about a year before I am actually going to move. How long does it generally take to get tech jobs in the Denver area? When should I start looking? I could probably come sooner (but not this much sooner) if I need to.

It all depends. How senior are you? Do you have a specialty, either category or skill wise? How flexible are you on salary? Are you looking for the company to relocate you?

I've heard of people that go seamlessly from one job to the next and others that languish on the sidelines.

I've seen the same in my friends and neighbors that have been laid off, also my husband. One time when he was laid off he was never out of work, another time was out of work several months. Can't give you anything specific.
