Steve: ? Where in Denver is there a mall that is the design of an indoor mall but with no roof? That sounds very Calif. to me. But I've never seen one here. Closest I've seen is the Village at Flatirons, but that's not quite what I think FrozenShores is talking about. The malls in southern Calif. make Denver's malls look tiny to me.

oh yes and then there's the famous Mall of America. Is that one still the biggest? Anyone been there? I wonder if it's outdated now or if they kept up maintenance.

I would also guess that Westminster Mall will be the next to go- it just can't compete with Flatirons right up the road. I think that Aurora Mall would have also been torn down had they not renovated. Fortunately, the mall's recent facelift, along with the addition of the Aurora Town Center has revitalized the area.

Does anyone know which mall is the largest in the Denver metro area?

Northfield at Stapleton is kind of an "outdoors" style mall area.

I was at the Mall of America about 2 years ago- it's still in good shape as far as I could tell. I spent almost the entire day walking around that mall and couldn't get to all of the stores, LOL.

ha, we crossed posts. ooh, Mall of America. Every girl's dream. And every man's nightmare!! hahahaha

downtownnola: I just read an article yesterday about how the Village is going down. They were adament that they aren't closing, but I guess there's been this mass exodus of vendors there. Apparently there is major damage occurring, walls caving in and such, and so many of the stores left. The Mall itself is hinting at some grandeose new concept, but won't even tell the stores about it.

Aurora Mall was definitely going down. Remember that rep. for the mall who made the statement about how they needed to keep the number of black teens down? Something to that effect anyway. I think that hurt them immensely. How stupid. It's the teens that keep malls alive.

I know Park Meadows used to be the biggest, but what about the one over in Golden sort of, on Colfax way west? I can't remember the name. It's pretty big. I bet Belmar is bigger than the Meadows.

About the outdoorsy mall thing, Northfield and Belmar and Orchard are not what I'm thinking of. I'll try to find a pic. Basically, what I'm picturing Frozen is talking about is a mall, just no roof. I went to one in a fashion district in L.A. and it was many stories tall, but no roof.

This is Fashion Valley in San Diego. This is what I was trying to articulate but failed miserably! I think we'll never see this here mainly because of our change of seasons. oh I miss San Diego. Maybe I should become wanttomovewest.

The pavillions downtown is like that as is shops at centerra up in loveland. The trick is getting people to shop in those areas when 20 degrees and wind is in the forecast. Have fun. Park meadows is the largest indoor mall in colorado with about 1.6 million square feet. It might be bigger because they just added on to it. I bet in the next few years something will be done with westminster. Either a huge renovation or just redeveloped.

Twenty Ninth St. in Boulder (that replaced Crossroads Mall) is an "open air mall."

I haven't been to the 29th St. Mall, I thought it was just big box stuff, not little stores. Pavillions is like what I was thinking of. For some reason I didn't think of that. And yeah, the weather is an issue, which is why I doubt I'll ever see my beloved Fashion Valley here. : (

Default Lakeside Mall?

Hi everyone- I thought I would try to see if anyone knew what was going on at the old Lakeside mall- 44th and Sheridan. I posted this question about a year ago and thought maybe someone had some newer info.

Development has started over here off of 44th and Harlan. The Target and Lakeside Mall are gone. Everything except for the Keybank on the corner. All that stands currently is the recently new Lakeside City hall & Police department. And a dentist, or something.

Does anyone have updates on this? I couldn't find any new information from Chandelle Development, nor from the Lakeside City dept. At least, online. I couldn't even seen any development signs on the site. Just piles o' dirt. I just bought a house in the area and am hoping for good news.
THANKS!
