denver seems a little more affordable than other areas of colorado so I was wondering what you guys would think of someone making it with a housing budget of $100,000 or less. I just need a small fixer upper in a decent location. And if there is this option what zipcodes do I plug into realtor.com to see what is available?

100k is a horrible house - a fix up townhome or a small clean condo.

Plenty of houses/townhomes/Condominiums available in Montbello, Green Valley Ranch, North Aurora, West Denver, etc under $100,000 that are not horrible. Especially if you are looking for small fixer upper in a decent location.

Given the places you listed, I supposed "decent area" is in the eye of the beholder. Montebello? Are you kidding?

No, even some parts of Montebello are decent. Certain neighborhood north and south of East Colfax have pockets of decent neighborhoods. All you have to do is take the time and look around to find the bargains.

There are 2 other areas that are by North Green Valley Ranch by 56th and Tower. One is closer to Montbello, and it is called Parkfield (KB Homes). I drive by it going to Northfield Stapleton on 56th and it seems OK, although I hear all kinds of things about Montbello and I am not sure about that neighborhood. But then again people say things about GVR that are not true either. I don't know if that's what RonAriba means by decent pockets. There is another area just east of GVR on the other side of 56th called Highpoint (DR Horton). I think that is the name. It seems very nice. Lots of townhomes there if that is what you are looking for. And they are building more right now. I have lived in Aurora and I liked it there, I rarely left to go into the big city for anything.
