What's the job market like up there in Denver? How much would you recommend saving up before moving out there, without a job?

It's tight unless you are in IT, there are a lot of IT/programmer jobs here, some require clearance.I would suggest 3-4 months of living expenses minimum.

Imagine you are moving to Orange County and that will be about right. My friends don't know how all the twenty something's can afford Denver unless they have trust funds or work in the energy industry. The energy industry may start looking to leave if Amendment 66 and Open Air MJ ordinances pass.

OP, what kind of job would you be looking for? What kind of education/experience would you be bringing with you?

How much are you paying for rent in Houston? Would you be looking for something similar in Denver?

Orange County, California? Not even close. I just did a COL calculation between Mission Viejo and Denver and Denver's COL is 33% lower. Will it be more expensive than Houston? Yes, but it'll be in the range of 7-10% higher with the biggest chunk of the difference being housing costs.
